Hi there! Welcome to the blog, a journal featuring our most recent weddings, engagements, and occasional travels. Stay a while and say hello!

Hi, I'm Kayla.

Kate and Ryan: Backyard Wedding at the Home of the Bride

Jun 23, 2020

I don’t even know where to begin with this day. It was the most PERFECT backyard wedding there ever was. Let me start by saying these two feel like family to me, Kate is Joy’s (my sister in law) sister, and both Ryan and Kate’s families are family friends so narrowing down this blogpost was impossible. (Also, I am acknowledging the fact that there is an abundance of photos of the most precious flower girl there ever was, and that’s because I am the world’s most biased auntie. Haha.) Kate and her mom and sister’s worked so hard to turn their home into a backyard oasis and it was stunning. The ceremony was in the pasture behind their home, the reception was in the backyard, the hor d’ourves were on the lower level with the yard games, and golden hour photos were in the field in front of their home with views for days! And the weather was heavenly. Days like that are so rare in June but it was glorious. My favorite parts of the day are Ryan’s reaction when he saw Kate for the first time at their first look, and again when she walked down the aisle, the world’s most precious miniature bride walking down the aisle, their first dance (so cute!), the burger bar at the reception with her uncles serving the food (so stinking fun), the unbelievable light and view at golden hour, the joy and laughter that is so evident in every single photo… I could go on and on about how beautiful the entire day was, but since there is a ridiculous amount of photos in this post (sorry, not really sorry though); I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

Ryan and Kate, you are amazing. We love you and your families more than you know and are so, so happy for you both!! XOXO

Sidenote: I had been looking forward to their wedding day for months, but when my father in law passed away unexpectedly the evening before the wedding I wasn’t able to be there. Val so kindly took over as lead photographer for the day for me (I still snuck over for a few hours in the morning) and honestly the photos are perfection!! I can say that because I didn’t take them. 😉 I wouldn’t have survived the day without Val, Rita, and Sherri- Thank you! Love you all.

XOXO
Kayla
