A few years ago Mim and a few of her friends were in Florida for vacation. They decided to take a day trip to wake board with some guys from the area who were staying several hours away. It was then that she first noticed Elmer. Apparently he left a good impression.
Several months later Mim was in a horrific accident where four of her friends lost their lives. She was thrown onto the roadway and was one of the first ones to receive medical assistance. Because of it she survived. In the days that followed as she emerged from unconsciousness, still heavily sedated, all she talked about to anyone and everyone that would listen was this wonderful guy named Elmer… 🙂
Because of the severe cuts she had on her legs it was a while before she could walk or do anything. So when Raystown wake-fest came around, she was so tired of sitting around and so ready to do something that she decided to go. She told me, “I could barely walk, but I wake-boarded…” Talk about determination! 🙂 Maybe the fact that she got to hang out with Elmer all weekend helped a little too!! It wasn’t very long until they started dating, and now they’re engaged, and getting married this fall!
The accident changed Mim’s life forever. Her determination to get as much as possible out of every day shows. She realizes that she was spared for a reason, and is resolved to make a difference. She accentuates Elmer perfectly, and you can tell he adores her. I love the way he can make her laugh, and is constantly whispering sweet little nothings into her ear. They’re so perfect and happy together.
I absolutely love the light on this next picture…
Love them…
It was truly a pleasure to photograph you both. All the best as you plan your wedding… Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your lives! xoxo~Kayla
